Xunka and her sister Yoli in Zinacantán
Xunka and Yoli are two sisters who lead a collective of women embroiderers and weavers in the Chiapan village of Zinacantan. In addition to organizing the group, and providing employment security to these women, they are a force for good in many other ways. They have worked to fight deforestation in their region, have advocated for sustainable agriculture, live in an experimental green building, and have organized a mobile library that travels to remote Chiapan villages, helping to counter illiteracy. They are strong, wise, talented business women working to better their community in so many ways and we are honored to know them and work with them.
